At the start of today’s lesson, I immediately noticed that the participant had a strong smell of alcohol/cannabis, was unsteady on their feet, had slurred speech, slow reactions, abnormal pupils, and was unable to follow basic safety instructions. I should: *

Why does TXSNOW require that all Kids Master (KM) Program products for children aged 1–11 be 1-on-1 only, with no group lessons? (check all that apply.) *

In January 2023 at the Val Saint-Côme ski resort in Quebec, a 1-Instructor-to-3-children lesson took place. The Instructor was unable to supervise all three children at the same time, and a six-year-old girl’s jacket hood was caught by the T-bar, leading to fatal strangulation.
In 2003 at the Mont Olympia ski resort in Quebec, a group lesson with one Instructor and eight children took place. The Instructor was unable to supervise all the children simultaneously, resulting in a nine-year-old child skiing unsupervised into a tree, suffering severe injuries, falling into a coma, and being left with permanent disabilities.
Based on Murphy’s Law, any risk that can occur is ultimately only a matter of time and probability. For every family, a child is irreplaceable. A single lapse on the slope can result in lifelong trauma that an entire family may never be able to bear.
To maximize participant safety—and to ensure that no Instructor is forced to carry an unbearable psychological burden after an accident—the Kids Master (KM) Program for ages 1–11 offers one-on-one Lessons only. Every child’s safety is placed above all else.

We grant KM certification only to Instructors who want to teach children and are capable of doing so, and they are the ones responsible for children’s lessons. Instructors without children’s teaching experience will not be forced to teach children’s lessons or children’s group lessons.
